It is a skin condition where the skin cells reproduce faster than normal and accumulate on the surface. In addition changes in toenails and/or fingernails may take place, including: discoloration, pitting, shape changes or the loss of the entire nail.

There are five types of psoriasis: Plaque, Guttate, Pustular, Inverse and Erythrodermic.

Due to the variations of the condition, diagnosing psoriasis is not always cut and dry. Your physician or dermatologist will examine the skin as well as toenails and fingernails and may also inquire about your family’s medical history.
